My name is Veronica, and I am a Counsellor working as apart of the Counselling Worx team in Kirikiriroa Hamilton.

It can take a lot of strength and courage to reach out for support, and to start a journey healing…. But this can start with one small step (or one small email). 

I have spent many years working within the health sector in Aotearoa and Australia, as a Radiographer and Sonographer. Upon returning to Aotearoa I felt like I was not living my life to it’s full potential, and I decided to study, volunteer and commence full time work for Hato Hone St John.  However, while navigating my new found career and helping those in crisis or need, I needed support from my colleagues, after having a significant seizure. 

Upon a diagnosis of Epilepsy, it was at this stage of my life where I needed to reconsider my purpose in life and my career.  While working on the frontline and seeing many people struggling with mental health and social issues, that this empowered me to commence my study and training in Counselling.

Fast forward 5+ years, I am now working full time as a Counsellor, and everyday I feel empowered by so many courageous people who are reaching out for help.  Life can throw multiple curve balls at us at times, and sometimes we all need someone to help us through these difficult times.

Everyone I meet has a story of strength, resilience, survival, and sometimes when we feel like our backs are against the wall, we just need someone in our corner! We all have the tools within us to navigate our life journey, sometimes we just need to be reminded of what these tools are.

I mostly work with anyone aged 16 years and older, who are struggling grief, loss, depression, anxiety, stress, chronic pain, health struggles, and most recently walking alongside survivors of sexual abuse/assault. 

When I am not at work, you will generally find me supporting the “Waikato Chiefs” (2026 will be our year!), the Warriors (Up the Wah’s!), the Black Ferns…. actually to be fair…any sport!
